About our company

The main activities of the Institute of Chemical Industry (IoChIP) are to create a program for modeling chemical technological processes IoChI, to teach modeling, to develop knowledge in the field of modeling chemical technological processes and to improve the qualifications of engineering personnel in the oil and gas and chemical industries. Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus, PROII training is in demand all over the world, including in Russia. The approaches to modeling chemical technological processes and operating principles are the same in most programs. It is expected that not only the IoChI program being developed, but also modeling training courses in such programs as HYSYS, Aspen Plus, PROII will be in demand.

Research activities

Research activities are primarily devoted to the development of a program for modeling chemical technological processes IoChI. The IoChI program interface is close to the HYSYS program interface. After IoChI training, the transition to HYSYS should not be difficult for users, and vice versa. Most Russian modeling programs are surrogate and do not use direct calculations. The program being developed is created according to the CAPE-OPEN standard and uses direct calculations of fluid properties and technological operations. Development of the program is impossible without an in-depth mastery of chemical engineering (the term “Chemical Engineering” is used instead of the usual “Processes and Apparatuses of Chemical Technology” to emphasize the use primarily of English-language sources). Therefore, the main efforts of researchers at our institute are devoted to the adaptation of foreign knowledge in chemical engineering and the development of calculation methods. The Institute has close ties with enterprises in the oil and gas and chemical industries, as well as with design organizations. Employees improve technological processes in the oil and gas and chemical industries, eliminate bottlenecks in existing production facilities and develop computer models. The developed computer models form the basis of computer simulators and digital twins. To comply with clause 13 of the “General Explosion Safety Rules for Explosion and Fire Hazardous Chemical, Petrochemical and Oil Refining Industries” (No. 533 of December 15, 2020), manufacturing enterprises require computer simulators that are as close as possible to real dynamic process models. Without computer models that reflect thermodynamic parameters in dynamics, it is impossible to fully comply with the requirements of regulatory documents. The development and search for rational CCUS (decarbonization) technologies is given special attention in the company’s activities, as well as the development of new technologies and devices.

Project activities

Project activities are aimed at assisting in the examination of technical specifications, technical and commercial proposals, feasibility studies, design documentation, working documentation, searching and eliminating problem areas in existing production. A new direction is the development of computer simulators for training and retraining of workers in the oil and gas refining and chemical industries. At the customer's request, it is possible to develop and configure models in HYSYS, Aspen Plus, PROII, DWSIM, as well as training in the above programs.

Educational activities

Educational activities are focused on conducting training and advanced training courses in modeling chemical technological processes. Training courses HYSYS, Aspen Plus, PROII are in demand in the market. Specialists who are proficient in one of the modeling programs can easily switch to another program in 1-3 days, because the principles of modeling chemical technological processes are the same. The developed courses are intended for students with any level of training and knowledge of chemical technologies. The courses will also be useful for experienced users of HYSYS, Aspen Plus, PROII, DWSIM, as they allow you to refresh fundamental knowledge and look at well-known technologies in a new way

H1 - Basic course on modeling oil and gas refining processes in Aspen HYSYS
H2 – Advanced course on modeling upstream and dpwnstream in Aspen HYSYS

The course is intended for experienced users. It is recommended that you complete the Basic Course H1 before taking this course. The course examines the optimization of energy distribution and mass flow, taking into account energy savings and reduction of capital costs. Duration - three days.

The course is intended for both beginners and experienced users. A distinctive feature of the proposed course is the large number of tasks for independent completion and the development of engineering thinking among students, and not simply repetition of pressing buttons. The courses are conducted in a “live” format: students receive answers to their questions as they progress.

The course is intended for experienced users. It is recommended that you take the basic course H1 before taking the specialty course. The material is based on the good knowledge of the basic course students.
